    Spotlight on linuzappz

Date: 2005-05-19
Current Project(s): PCSX2
Location: Argentina

Today we focus our spotlight on the PCSX2 developer linuzappz. It has been over two years since the last time we interviewed linuzappz who at the time was our first spotlight here at EmuFanatics. Over the past two years a lot has changes with PCSX2 and it's development has grown leaps and bounds. linuzappz is a wondeful developer who has done a lot for PCSX2 and I personally looking forward to seeing how much it has developed over the next two years.

Interview

Q : When did you get into emulation either as a coder or just a fan?
A : That was six years ago, when psemu was just showing progress

Q : What was your first coding experience for emulation?
A : With SOPE, which was a linux ps emu open source, that gave me the chance to learn about ps/emus/c coding.

Q : What interested you in Playstation/Playstation 2 Emulation?
A : Both consoles are quite nice, sony did a good job with them, and they have so many cool games ^^

Q : What do you think about the current state of the emulation scene as a whole?
A : It's pretty advanced i think, i like the fact that there are so many open source projects around

Q : What do you think about the current state of the NextGen scene?
A : NextGen consoles are damn complex/powerfull, but devs are doing a job emulating them, wonder how somebody will emulate the ps3, as i have enough probs emulating the ps2 :P

Q : How do you feel about the response you have received so far for your projects?
A : I get more response than i though i would, guess that's good :P

Q : What is your best experience when it comes to Emulation?
A : That's when things starts working , i remember i really enjoied watching the ps2 intro for the first time at pcsx2

Q : What was your worst experience when it comes to Emulation?
A : Can't think of any really bad experience

Q : Are you currently working on any other projects besides PCSX2?
A : No, life takes too much time, i can barely code for pcsx2

Q : Does the amount of lame request ever make you second guess what you are currently doing?
A : At first yes, but i don't care anymore

Q : What is the lamest request you have every received?
A : There are so many :P.. some guy told me that pcsx2 0.7 did a nice job with 2d games, but that there are 3d ps2 games as well, lol funny guy :P

Q : What is the nicest complement you have received?
A : That's when psychojak called my work geniuslike

Q : Could you give us some information regarding the current state of your projects?
A : Well, i'm currently trying to speed up things more, working on the vurec/normal rec, as well as i keep trying to increase compatibility, tho things are a bit slow atm, only have time on weekends mostly, and just for a couple of hours

Q : Do you ever plan on working on another emulation project after PCSX2? If so what would interest you and challenge you?
A : Not atm

Q : Are you satisfied with the work you have done up to this point?
A : Yep

Q : Does the progress of your projects surpass all of your expectations so far? Or do you think you would have been further along in development?
A : I'm just happy with it, of course i could be much more, but life comes first

Q : Who else do you currently work with on your projects?
A : Atm saqib, shadow and auMatt

Q : How much have they influenced you and how much have they improved your work and vice versa?
A : Usually all of us get helped by each other when it's possible

Q : After you have moved on from the scene what do you want to be most remembered for?
A : My bugz :P:P

Q : Could you provide us with an teasers of things to come for your projects?
A : The only thing new atm is ps1 support ;P

Q : One last thing is there anything you would like to say or anybody you would like to thank?
A : Yeah, thx shadow for pcsx2, the other devs and betatesters as well for all the work on pcsx2
