| Realityman is alive! (UltraHLE as well)
by
Link Hyrule
UIN: N/A [Update] Well, I went and looked at the shots, after I posted this, the first one I looked at was at: http://www.ultrahle.com/images/aguage1.jpg, and in the titlebar it said v2.0.0, didn't RM say the next release is 1.5.0? Anyway, I can't see what that means, then again, it could mean that 1.5.0 won't come, and a long, long wait is at hand. But, the positive side could be that the next release will be that good, that he did decide to call it 2.0.0. You make the call! [End of Update] Suprisingly, the UltraHLE Page has gotten 12 new screenshots, and a quick status message on UltraHLE: So, its been a while since my last update so I thought I would do a quick update before I disappear into the ether once more ;) Anyway, those of you who know me personally will know the reasons why I haven't been active publically over recent months (I won't elaborate here) and although development has been slow it has not been fruitless. The OpenGL core is now working well with both my TNT2 and Voodoo3 cards so I have moved the project on to the next stage, improving compatibility. Many of the roms which currently fail with UltraHLE v1.0.0 have common problems which relate, more often than not, to low level compatibility (or lack of I should say). These are being addressed one by one and once non-working roms are starting to produce some encouraging results. Aside from compatibility, the other area to be addressed now is improving the HLE engine. I am currently working on a redesign to include all the latest functions and microcode used in newer roms. I will update very soon with some more information. - RealityMan - For the Screenshots, head over to the Official UltraHLE Screenshots Page |

| contest update!
by
Link Hyrule
UIN: N/A Just a quick note on the contest. I've seen alot of screenshots in my day, and frankly some picture of Mario Jumping in Nemu64 is not going to cut it. You want my DKR game or the adaptoid? Your going to have to earn it, I have already gotten a screenshot taken using an unreleased version of sunset2k. It is very unique, I am willing to bet alot that none of you could match that shot, but realize, that shots like that have a better chance of winning, and finally, we never said you couldn't download a screenshot from your favorite N64 site, take a screenshot of a titlebar you made with the name 'MYN64', and have an options window up that really allows paint shop pro and photoshop plugins like Nemu64's april fools joke showed. Be Creative!! |

| Emulation64 contest!
by
Martin Nathell
UIN: 40843046 It's time for a contest here at Emulation64! All you are asked to do is to capture a very cool screenshot of an N64 emulator running a game of your choice. Tip: the screenshot should be cool enough to be the best (or 2nd best) of all contestants, otherwise this contest is meaningless for you :) You are restricted to capture and send one screenshot only. If you send more than one, you will be ignored and will have to impress noone except maybe yourself in your loneliness with your screenshot. The screenshot should be of high resolution, preferably 800*600 or higher. So what can you win? Drool... First prize: Diddy Kong Racing cartridge for N64. Courtesy of Link Hyrule. Second prize: The Adaptoid. Courtesy of Wish Technologies. The contest will close in one week exactly. Go capture, and send your screenshot to my mailbox. Good luck! |

UIN: 35636303 Bwb from EmulationHQ expressed his mind on their site. He wrote an article regarding the entire emulation scene, and what's in it...or what's not. And why. I agree with him on most parts...I think I belong to the 99%. Don't know what I'm talking about? Go read the story on EmulationHQ. |

by
Martin Nathell
UIN: 40843046 I got a mail from Scott today, telling me about a new Sixtyforce release: This is a N64 emulator for macos available at http://www.sixtyforce.com. Gerrit doesn't say what is new but it has improved sound, graphics and 2 player support. Also the a version fixed a bug making it unplayable on any computer other than Gerrits. -Scott- Thanks to Scott, we now know a little more about this release :) |
| Shadow64...
by
Martin Nathell
UIN: 40843046 It is too bad things like this happen, but they are unavoidable, aren't they? What would we discuss at IRC if the scene didn't have its lamers? Here's what icepir8 said about the Shadow64 situation: I'm sure everyone seen/heard about Shadow64 by now. I've discussed this with F|RES and this is how we feel about it. Shadow64 is obviously a recompiling of TRWinGL's source with very few changes. We were not particularly pleased with this, but, and this is an important but, it is what shadowgod and anyone working with does next. Time will tell if they are lamers or serious emu developers and if they are serious we will be more than glad to help them out. If they are just lamers then they have gotten what they wanted. And it is best if everyone just ignores them and let them go away quietly. I personally hope they are serious about creating their own N64 emulator. - Icepir8 I totally agree with icepir8 and F|RES. Visit the TR64 website. |

UIN: 40843046 I'm proud to present two new hosted sites here at Emulation64: Myzar and Spinal. Both guys are well known in the N64 emulation scene; both of them are compiling their own INI files for different N64 emulators, such as Corn and Nemu64. On behalf of the entire Emulation64 staff, I'd like to say welcome to the both of them. Good to have you on the team ;) |

| Nemu64 + Banjo-Kazooie = Problems ? No more !
by
Yannick Villeneuve
UIN: 57244119 Margrave (that guy who sent bwb of EmuHQ an eMail telling him which settings to add in the ini for "Track and Field 2000") just sent me an eMail, with the way to resolve the "Hard to enter game" problem with Banjo-Kazooie ! So, here is the eMail he sent me: In the nemu .ini file, in the entry for banjo-kazoie, we can read 'playable, hard to enter game'. Well, it's not hard if you know that the only way to play is removing both the .sav and .mpk files (generated by Nemu) from the directory where the emu stores them. Then, you can say "But I want to keep my jiggs and levels!!!"...ok, simply start the game, and BEFORE you go to the select saved game screen, pause Nemu, and overwrite the new .mpk and .sav files with those you removed before. I would like to know if it works for someone else since Nemu64 doesnt works on my computer. Please contact me if it does work. |

| TrWin 2.31 WIP Released !
by
Yannick Villeneuve
UIN: 57244119 A new WIP version of TrWin has been released ! Here are the major changes in this new version: 1) Win2k, window mode fixed by making the window a little bigger. This seems to be a bug in the DX clipper routines, where dx clipper slows down in when the window is smaller than its actual size. 2) Better sound card detection and workarounds. If you don't have a sound card, or Win2K won't install your perfectly good sound card, TRWin will now run without the need to click Disable Sound, which BTW, will cause some ROMs not to work (and others to work). 3) Country code detect changed. It may be better, it may be worse. Please email rcp@emuhq.com if you find any ROMs that dont run in the latest release. Click here to check out the update made by RCP & Slacka and to download the latest version ! Thanks, once again, to EmuHQ for the news ! |

The list is including comments and technical informations, different ROM country versions (Pal, Ntsc, Jap, with different results). Also, some comments and technical informations have been updated (they are all based upon version 2.30 WIP). Click here to check it out ! There is also a french version available, click here french readers ! Thanks to EmuHQ for the news. |

| TR64 Improves!
by
Redah Bening
UIN: 35636303 Here's a post from the TR64 website: "TR64 is progressing at a fairly nice pace. With the improvements F|RES has made to the core and the work I've done with the video and dynarec, TR64 is looking like it will be a lean and mean N64 emulator. F|RES has gotten Mario Party and Mario Party 2 and many more games running now. We have hopes that Golden Eye will be running soon also." That sounds very very good! Thanks to EmuHQ for the news. |

| ContraSF
by
Martin Nathell
UIN: 40843046 [Update] bwb of EmuHQ posted a formal apology to ContraSF for releasing the Corn 0.3- beta by mistake. Things like that happen, and the one who made a mistake was the guy who sent the fake mail to bwb, not bwb himself. Read more about it at Emulation Headquarters. [End of Update] An update has been done to the Corn homepage. Here is what ContraSF has to say: This is funny. As I said before, there exists no Corn0.3 yet. The Corn0.3 in my mind should have a completed new core and far better compatibility. However, since I won't be able to develop Corn for 3 months, I built a WIP based on my current work, called Corn0.3-. Most Corn0.3- testers suggested that I'd release it because 3 months is too long. I agree. Why let people wait 3 months if they can enjoy Zelda right now? So, it's decided to be released. However, there are bugs/problems (which you may have encountered). I squeezed some time out of my busy schedule before my departure to fix them, to add the support for the common plugin interface to be used by TRWin, 1964, TR64 and other projects, and just to find out that even Corn0.3 has been released! I don't know what I am doing. Making Corn0.3- when people are running Corn0.3 (and reporting problems)? Really funny! Note1: This is by no means a fault of EmuHQ. Somebody faked email from me and sent it to bwb, asking him to release the beta he has. We all know it is fairly simple to fake email sending from any address. Note2: Great thanks to the guy who faked the email, I thought I'd not be able to go to sleep tonight before 5 or 6 am. You are so considerate to let me have a good sleep for tomorrow's trip. I have been lack of sleep for months, you cured me! Good night! [Originally posted by Phrodide] |

by

UIN: 35636303 There seemed to be a problem in the 1964 emulator, wich made a log file c:\1964log.txt. This logfile could become quite huge when using 1964 for a longer period of time. Version 0.4.5b fixes this problem, since it doesn't log anything anymore. Download it right here! |

| Corn 0.3 released !!!
by
Redah Bening
UIN: 35636303 [Update] There seem to be a lot of people who can't get Corn 0.3 to work, while Corn 0.29 *did* work for them. I have not yet found a solution for this, but it seems to be a Windows2000 problem. Everyone who could not get Corn 0.3 to work was running Windows2000. People with Windows9x could run Corn 0.3 just fine. If you believe you have a solution, please mail it to anyone here on Emulation64. [Original post] The wait is over, the new version of Corn has been released. As you might have seen in preview screenshots this version runs *many* games to some extent, even Zelda and Zelda 2! Compatibility has improved greatly and yet the speed is still lightning fast and perfect with sound enabled. Download version 0.3 right here or visit the Corn homepage! The version you can download on our site is a complete version with GUI and all inside. You do not need to download Corn 0.2 to use this version. |
| Nemu Banshee drivers exposed !
by
Redah Bening
UIN: 35636303 Here's some more news on the Voodoo Banshee drivers for Nemu 0.7a. They were made by a guy called SphinXer, and I had a little chat with him. He took the original 3Dfx Reference drivers and tried to figure out how these worked. Then he set out to make his own drivers that would on the other hand keep Windows running, but add support for the Nemu64 emulator as well. He also added better Direct3D support eventually. These drivers are in Beta stage, with the current released set marked as Beta 2. In future, updates will be made and ofcourse we'll post them again here. Now let's just hope that 3Dfx will leave this guy alone and not create trouble again as they did with the UltraHLE wrappers... Download the drivers here and Nemu 0.7a by clicking here, or scroll down to read more in another post I did earlier today. |

| Nemu 0.7a works with Banshee !!!
by
Redah Bening
UIN: 35636303 Yesssssss, very good news for all you Voodoo Banshee owners out there. Alien16 pointed me to some new Voodoo Banshee drivers on the Internet. Altough these are not generic Banshee drivers, they seem to work on all cards. I have tested it myself on two different Banshee's, including my own. I have not yet seen any graphical errors. I do -not- know where these drivers come from tough or who made them. They just work. But the -big- news is that with these drivers installed, Nemu64 0.7a works perfectly in Hardware Accelerated video mode. Ain't that great? Now every Voodoo Banshee user out there can use Nemu64 07.a to it's full extent! Download the drivers here and Nemu 0.7a by clicking here. Thank you Alien16 ! |
| Unofficial Corn INI's
by
Redah Bening
UIN: 35636303 I have heard several questions and received even more mails from people complaining that the latest INI files for Corn released by Spinal do not work. Well ofcourse they don't. The files are perfect, except every single one of you people out there forget one thing. The last two INI's are meant for version 3.0-, the WIP version of Corn. This means that a lot of the games marked as 'Playable' in these INI's are *not* playable in Corn 0.29, the latest released version. That's all. |

UIN: 73297958 Yes, it works in the WIP version, and quite well... with better graphics and better speed than in Nemu64. However, there is no sound. To get this game to run, set it's UCODE to 5 and its boot type to 1. Here are some screenshots taken on a Voodoo 3 3000 in Windows 2000. | 1964 running Mario 64
by
james bond
UIN: 73297958 Schibo has just informed me that his emulator, 1964, can fully run Mario 64. This emulator has progressed very fast and in the past week has started to play Mario 64 and Mario Kart. Expect more from 1964 soon. Update: Here are some screenshots I took in 1964 0.4.5 beta ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() As you can see, there are numerous texture errors. The 2D textures are rotated, as you may notice. This is an issue caused by porting from Gerrit's Mac code to PC (An endian problem). Also, 3d textures are being mapped incorrectly to triangles. Some other problems include losing control when switching windows, and "crash" when closing 1964. This is great progress, stay tuned to the 1964 homepage for more information and a possible release soon. |

by
Redah Bening
UIN: 35636303 I got a copy of a WIP (work-in-progress) version of Corn, a great N64 emulator. When this will come out you'll be really stunned. This version can run a hell of a lot games to some extent. Some examples: Zelda, Zelda 2, Tarzan, Ridge Racer 64, Mystical Ninja, Mortal Kombat Trilogy, Mortal Kombat Mythologies, Offroad, NBA Pro 98, NBA Hangtime, Multi Racing Championship and 64 Ohzumo. The games listed above almost all had sound while I tested them, but not all, like the Zelda's. I will test more games tomorrow, put a lot of screenshots up and give you a full status report. Come back again tomorrow! |

UIN: 40843046 I saw over at EmuHQ that the TRWin website has been updated with some very nice news: Thanks for a lot of great input on 2.28. I've decided to move to a plugin based system and clean some things up before moving on to the new core. The plugin specs will be published and i invite you to write your own plugins for TRWin. Bear in mind, the gfx and afx plugins are not trivial to say the least... however, the 'input' plugin should be pretty easy, and we all know TRWin's input device handling sucks... so this would be a great place for someone to help out. Speaking of controllers... i've just added support for Adaptoids and it really rocks. I must HIGHLY recommend the Adaptoid product. Installation is trivial and it worked perfectly right out of the box. Check out www.wishtech.com for more info. Also in the next release, the memory expansion pack is emulated and pal/ntsc is switchable. The big new, however, is that TRWin updates will now be available as WIP (Work In Progress) releases. WIPs will be released very frequently, but with little internal testing. This means that if you download a WIP it may not work as well as the previous full release. For this reason, the last released version will remain on site, and the WIPs will be named TRWinWIP.exe. Hopefully, this will give you the best of both worlds. Cheers, rcp Wow, quite an update! Visit the TRWin website. Discuss this emulator in our N64 Emulation message board. |

| New Adaptoid drivers
by
Martin Nathell
UIN: 40843046 Wishtech inc. have released new drivers for their N64 Controller to USB interface, called Adaptoid: The latest driver is 1.1.63 which adds support for Win2000, rumble support for multiple adaptoids simultaneously, and allows rearranging of the controller button ordering. There's also a new driver installer which simplifies the installation a bit, and allows for uninstalling the driver as well. A few bugs still remain the mempak support and some games still have problems rumbling, so its still a beta. See the readme file for details. Installation instructions are also in the readme file. |

| Two new sites at Emu64!
by
Martin Nathell
UIN: 40843046 I am proud to present two new sites to the Emulation64 network. The first one is Nemuzone, a site that is maintained by Gorxon and Zapdos. As you can probably figure out by the name, the site is entirely dedicated to the N64 emulator Nemu64. The other site is called Emulation64 at E3, and is a page that we brought up because Angelo is going to Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles where he will report live with the most thrilling, exciting news, and of course tasty pictures as well! E3 begin on Thursday, so prepare for fat reports from there! |

| TRWin Compatibility List!
by
James Frazzetto
UIN: 41859773 Well, I been hanging out for this . With the new version of TRWIN 2.28 has come a GREAT compatibility list from The Company. He tested 230 roms a large amount are playable (100 roms!) . About 50 others are almost playable and a majority show an intro. TRWIN is obviously becoming a great emulator indeed and I dare say one of the most compatible. Check out the list here. Thank you EmuHQ for that great update. |

| Virtual Reality update
by
Redah Bening
UIN: 35636303 The Virtual Reality homepage has been updated with the following: The core is now as compatible as the old core. Now it's time for the 3d stuff. Since I don't know anything about 3d programming it can take a while before there is any improvement. I first considered using OpenGL, but I'll stick to Direct3D for now. There's progress! |

by

UIN: 25274206 Conker's having a bad fur day, and he has no problem telling you about in this M rated game involving a cute squirrel who is actually quite vulgar. IGN has got a preview here, but be warned that this preview contains harsh and obscene language which may be inappropriate for younger viewers. |

| 1080 Snowboarding
by
james bond
UIN: 25274206 It's happening again... Nemu compatibility just keeps on increasing. This time with the addition of 1080 Snowboarding to the list of games. 1080 is fully playable in Nemu. To get it to work, you have to do the Ctrl+K trick used with ExciteBike64 in a few places (Thanks to LaC for bringing this to my attention). Here are some screenshots taken with a Voodoo 3 3000 in Windows 2000. Click the screenshots below for enlarged images. ![]() (Emulation64 does not condone the usage of illegal ROM images. Download ROMs at your own risk, and you will not find commercial ROMs, including 1080 Snowboarding, for download on Emulation64.) |
