Makeshift Duckhunt Alpha1
Drakonite

This is the beginning of a quick clone of Duckhunt I've created over the past couple days.
It's not very robust (guncon has to be in port 2, etc), it's no where near complete, and there are likely a few bugs, but I wanted to get this out to see what type of reaction it gets.
I had planned to make a nice parady of Duckhunt, including some changes I know everyone wants to see to the original game, while making it look and feel as much like the original as possible to aid in the parady.. however if no one has a guncon and is going to play it I won't bother doing that much work.
I'll be judging the response I receive from this preview release to decide if I'm going to finish and polish it all up, or patch it up and call it good...
Enjoy.

In order to play you need a PS1 Guncon compatible light gun. It is _NOT_ compatible with the USB based Guncon2 protocol.
The PS1 Guncon _MUST_ be plugged into the _SECOND_ controller port. If you plug it into the first controller port it will not work. Like I said, it's not robust yet, it assume the Guncon will be plugged into the _SECOND_ controller port.

Start duckhunt.elf like you would any other elf file.

When you first start Makeshift Duckhunt, you will see only a gray screen with a target in the middle. Aim and fire at the target to calibrate the Guncon. If the crosshair that is shown where the gun is aiming, press A to begin the game, if not, aim and fire at the target again to try calibrating again. (When/if it's complete, these instructions will be on the calibration screen)

After you press A, you should see a familar screen with ducks flying around, have fun :P
Yes, it's just an endless stream of ducks at this point. Like I said, it's far from complete, I just rushed to get it out to see how many people care.

FAQ/Troubleshooting: (I can see these coming already...)

Q: HELP! It's stuck at a black screen and if I run it via ps2link it spits out the message "controller not found" !!!
A: Make sure you plugged a PS1 Namco Guncon compatible light gun into the _SECOND_ controller port and that if it has more than one mode it is in 'Guncon' mode.

Q: The ducks never stop! I don't move on to the next round!
A: No, they don't. No, you don't.

Q: I calibrated my gun, how do I get past the calibration screen?
A: The A button.

Q: When will this be finished?
A: Depends if anyone is going to play it...

Q: Will this boot from [insert boot method here]? or How do I boot this?
A: It should work under method of running an elf file, be it ps2link, ps2menu, or whatever.
